  • David R. Hastings III

    David joined the office in 1976 as the fifth generation of the Hastings family in the firm.  He is a graduate of Bowdoin College and Temple Law School.  His practice focuses on real estate transactions, small business representation including entity formations and the purchase and sale of businesses, estate planning, and probate practice.   David is admitted to practice in both Maine and New Hampshire.

    Outside of the office, David served over twenty years as a Director of the Eastern Slope Airport Authority, for many as chairman. He served as a Director of the Maine SAD 72 School Board for eight years and later as a Trustee of Fryeburg Academy for twelve years.  He has been a part of the management of the Fryeburg Fair for over forty years and currently serves as First Vice President and member of its Financial Committee.

    David was elected to four terms in the Maine State Senate from 2004 to 2012, representing 14 towns in Southern Oxford County and Western Cumberland County.  David served all eight years on the Judiciary Committee and was appointed Senate Chairman in his final term, during which he also served as the Chairman of the Right to Know Advisory Committee.

    David lives in Fryeburg with his wife, Carol, a retired third grade teacher.  They have four children and three grandchildren. David enjoys golf, fly fishing and skiing in his free time.

  • Andrew P. Pierce

    Andrew P. Pierce joined Hastings Law Office in 2015 and focuses on real estate and estate planning. Andy graduated cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School in 2006. He has since been admitted to practice law in Maine, Minnesota, Wisconsin and New Hampshire. Andy is presently a member of the Maine Trial Lawyers Association. Over the years, his practice has focused on civil litigation, including personal injury, as well as estate planning (wills, powers of attorney) and probate administration. Andy began his career practicing plaintiff’s personal injury at a well-respected firm in Duluth, Minnesota before practicing for several years at a medium-sized firm in Portland, Maine.

    Andy met his wife Kristen (a native Mainer) at Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota where he graduated as an Economics major in 2001. They reside in Fryeburg with their son, daughter, and two dogs.

    Andy spends any free time he has outside playing soccer, running, skiing, and curling.
  • Jason B. Dennis

    In 2022, Attorney Jason B. Dennis completed a 40-hour mediation training program. He is now offering mediation services (both in person and via Zoom) for a variety of matters.

    Jason focuses his practice on municipal law and civil litigation (including construction cases, property disputes, and personal injury); however, he has experience in various legal areas, including administrative law, appellate law, and condominium/HOA law. Jason works with his clients to develop practical--albeit sometimes creative--solutions to their legal needs, and his goal in any matter is to assist clients in the most effective and efficient way possible. While resolving a matter outside of court can often be in a client’s best interest, Jason remains ready, willing, and able to advocate for his clients in court and in other contested proceedings, whether before a judge, jury, or other hearings officer or panel.

    Jason is admitted to practice law in Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts (inactive status), and he is a graduate of the New Hampshire Bar Association’s Leadership Academy Class of 2016-2017. Jason is currently serving as the District Two Governor on the Maine State Bar Association's Board of Governors and the Out-of-State Governor on the New Hampshire Bar Association’s Board of Governors. Jason is also a member of the Tin Mountain Conservation Center Board of Trustees.

    Jason earned his Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Roanoke College in 2003. He earned his Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Indiana University (IU) in 2008. While at IU, Jason participated in the Barcelona Institute on International and Comparative Law in Barcelona, Spain; the Suffolk University Summer Law Program in Lund, Sweden; and was also member of IU’s team in the American Bar Association Labor and Employment Law Trial Competition. Additionally, Jason was an active member of Phi Delta Phi, the oldest legal organization in continuous existence in the United States.

    Jason lives with his wife Liz and their daughter in Madison, New Hampshire. Aside from his legal interests, Jason is a published novelist, an avid sports fan, and a Christmas village "architect." Jason has coached high school soccer and enjoys rock climbing and other outdoor activities with his wife and daughter as often as possible.
  • Jonathan G. Burk

    Attorney Jonathan G. Burk has a general practice with an emphasis in civil litigation and real estate. Jon regularly handles cases involving property rights, contracts, construction disputes, personal injuries, and landlord-tenant matters. He advises local businesses on entity formation and also works with local business on a variety of transactions, ranging routine to complex. Jon is licensed to practice law in both Maine and New Hampshire.

    Jon received his Juris Doctor from University of Maine School of Law. At Maine Law, Jon served as a student mediator in several Maine District Courts. Jon also provided legal assistance to low-income families at the Cumberland Legal Aid Clinic. During the 2020 pandemic, Jon worked for the State of Maine’s Economic Recovery Committee.

    Prior to law school, Jon oversaw daily operations at a supply chain software start-up based in Portland. Jon attended Cornell University in Ithaca, New York and graduated with a major in Economics and a minor in Music. Jon was a member of the Cornell Club Cycling Team and played piano with the Cornell Jazz Band.

    Jon presently serves on the board of the Mount Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce and the board of Jazz Residency Initiative, a nonprofit music education organization that he co-founded in 2015. Jon grew up in Denmark, Maine and is a graduate of Fryeburg Academy. He now lives in Center Conway, New Hampshire where he enjoys fishing, hiking, and skiing in the White Mountains.
